Nursing-School.org Celebrates National Nurses Week May 6-12

Thursday, August 11th, 2011

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) May 6, 2005

Each month, more than 85,000 people come to Nursing-School.org to learn more about beginning a career in nursing. This week Nursing-School.org offers not only information to these prospective nurses, but also thanks and appreciation. May 6 marks the beginning of National Nurses Week in the United States. The week celebrates the work of America’s 2.7 million registered nurses to save lives and to maintain the health of millions of individuals.

Joining in the celebration are the creators of Nursing-School.org, an educational website featuring nursing school listings, nursing degree programs, medical field information, and career outlook for prospective and continuing education nurses.

“Nurses: Many Roles, One Profession” is the theme for 2005. National Nurses Week opens on May 6, marked as RN Recognition Day, and is supported heavily by the American Nurses Association (ANA), in conjunction with its Constituent State Nurses Associations. The week ends on May 12, the birthday of Florence Nightingale, founder of nursing as a modern profession. During mid-celebration, on May 8, National Student Nurses Day is commemorated.

“It’s a perfect time to encourage student nurses you know,” says Emily Ostendorf, site manager for Nursing-School.org. “Take the time on May 8th to let young men and women entering the nursing field that you appreciate and admire the contribution they’re making to society.”

Traditionally, National Nurses Week is devoted to highlighting the diverse ways in which registered nurses, the largest health care profession, are working to improve health care. From bedside nursing in hospitals and long-term care facilities to the halls of research institutions, state legislatures, and Congress, the depth and breadth of the nursing profession is meeting the expanding health care needs of American society.

“With a nursing shortage still impacting the country, National Nurses Week is also a great time to introduce young people to the possibility of a medical career,” says Ostendorf, of Nursing Schools. “We’re dedicated to helping students decide if nursing is a good fit for them and connecting them to the best resources when they decide ‘yes.'”

Nursing Home Complaint Center Calls March National Nursing Home Abuse & Neglect Awareness Month For All US Nursing Home Patients

Wednesday, July 27th, 2011

(Vocus/PRWEB) March 01, 2011

The Nursing Home Complaint Center says, “We are calling March,National Nursing Home Abuse, and Neglect Awareness Month, for all US nursing home patients, and their loved ones. Just as an example of the problem, we believe needless sepsis infections, bed sores, septic shock, broken bones, wrongful death, and elder abuse in our nation’s nursing homes are at, or beyond epidemic levels, and we want to hear from family members who have proof the sick, or deceased family member was mistreated, or not treated at all-with the result being a wrongful death, or they are now in a ICU at a nearby hospital.” They say, “One of the biggest problems we see in the vast majority of our nation’s nursing homes is staffing levels, are not high enough to meet Medicare, or Medicaid standards, with the result being dead patients, or patients suffering from sepsis, bed sores, or septic shock, or broken bones.” The group says, “We desperately need family members, or loved ones to keep journals, or logs related to each time, and date they last saw their family member in a US nursing home, and their condition at that time.” If a family member of a nursing home patient has specific information about severe neglect, or abuse involving a nursing home, and their loved one, please call the Nursing Home Complaint Center immediately at 866-714-6466, or contact the group via its web site at http://NursingHomeComplaintCenter.Com

The Nursing Home Complaint Center is also urging nursing home staff members to step forward if they have proof of intentional short staffing, patient neglect, concealing what really happened to someone’s mom, or dad, in the instance of a severe infection, a broken bone, or even a wrongful death. The group says, “many nursing home employees see it, but are too afraid to say something about it. Please call us, if you know of intentional nursing home abuse, neglect, or wrongful death.” They say, “we also want to hear from nursing home employees who have significant proof of Medicare, or Medicaid fraud. If you can prove intentional short staffing, needless Medicare cognitive, ambulatory, or speech tests, there can be huge rewards for this type of information-provided its provable.” Nursing home patient family members, and or nursing home employees are encouraged to call the Nursing Home Complaint Center with any serious concerns, or proof of wrong doing, patient abuse, or patient neglect anytime at 866-714-6466, or they can contact the group via its web site at http://NursingHomeComplaintCenter.Com
