Issaquah, WA (PRWEB) June 04, 2012

According to QuickMedical, a significant number of patients suffer from hypothermia at many points in the healthcare cycle; from the ambulance trip to the hospital to the period during and following surgery. A convective warming system, such as the PDM solution, has proven to be the most efficient and effective method of actively regulating the patient’s temperature.

“These warming blankets have been so beneficial to patient care, especially to the pediatric patients. The surgeons are routinely asking that they be placed on each patient,? said Dr. Corrie Anderson, Anesthesiologist at UCLA Medical Center.

Soft-Flex Operating Room Warming Blankets maintain a patient’s ideal body temperature before surgery and after surgery in the recovery room. At these critical times, patients are more susceptible to hypothermia related complications which can dramatically impact their health and healing. The use of Operating Room Warming Blankets eliminates potentially lethal complications in patients such as surgical site infections, altered drug metabolism, impaired blood clotting, and cardiovascular issues.

Dr. Michael Zygmunt, Anesthesiologist at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital said, “The blankets and warmers are easy to work with, dependable, and very effective. It has lowered our incidence of hypothermia in the OR.”

Proudly made in the USA, Progressive Dynamics Medical Soft-Flex Warming Blankets are packaged with 10 blankets per case. Each Warming Blanket is individually serialized for easy tracking and FDA compliance. Soft-Flex Blankets are both latex and DEHP free and are single-use items made of disposable and recyclable materials.

Medical Alert Systems Provider Markets New Device

Thursday, February 16th, 2012

Greer, SC (PRWEB) February 09, 2012

MedFirst Alert, a leading marketer of personal emergency response systems (PERS), has announced the launch of a unique product which allows full two-way communication with emergency personnel, and in a wider coverage area.

“Our new Medical Alert System is the first monitored medical alert device that allows you to speak and listen directly through the pendant itself,” says John Nunnally, chief executive officer of MedFirst Alert. “This allows on the spot voice communication with emergency personnel?unlike traditional medical alert devices.”

“And with over 600 feet of effective communication range, the Medical Alert System provides significantly enhanced security in the home and surrounding areas,” adds Nunnally.

Its website notes that the device’s two-way communication ability means there is no need to be physically near a base console to talk with an operator. Also noted is that the device is water resistant and may be worn in the bath or shower, that service is provided in both English and Spanish, and that all MedFirst Alert call center staff are Emergency Response certified.

As reported in a study conducted by the National Council on Disability, 80 percent of the elderly persons who used assistive technology were able to reduce their dependence on others. In addition, half of those surveyed reduced their dependence on paid helpers, and half were able to avoid entering nursing homes.

“This state of the art product brings a new level of comfort and peace of mind to anyone living alone or concerned about having an accident or emergency at home,” says Nunnally.

Two Major Health Carriers Support American College of Physicians? Medical Home Builder 2.0.

Friday, January 20th, 2012

Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) January 19, 2012

Two large medical insurance carriers have begun the year by providing access for thousands of primary care clinicians to use a new program for practice management. The American College of Physicians (ACP) developed the program Medical Home Builder 2.0 as an online tool to help ambulatory care offices improve patient care, organization and workflow.

Independence Blue Cross of Philadelphia and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield, which offers health care insurance throughout Maryland, Virginia and Washington, DC, will fund the enrollments of more than 3,500 area physicians in ACP?s Medical Home Builder 2.0.

Medical Home Builder 2.0 is a robust, yet easy-to-use, self-paced online tool that physicians and their staffs may use to measure and?where needed?improve patient care, office procedures, and workflows according to the Patient-Centered Medical Home model. Thirteen modules on various aspects of practice management have been released, with another three set for completion and release in the spring.

?We are providing participating practices with online tools and information never before available to help them provide care in a way that can improve quality and reduce costs over time.? said CareFirst President and Chief Executive Officer Chester ?Chet? Burrell. ?By working with ACP, we are making available yet another resource to PCMH physicians, nurse practitioners and office staff to improve the delivery of patient care.?

?Many practices are interested in becoming a medical home, but are struggling to know where to begin,? said Richard Snyder, MD, chief medical officer for Independence Blue Cross. ?Medical Home Builder 2.0 is a great roadmap for practices. ACP understands how physicians think and organize their practice.?

ACP Senior Vice President Michael Barr agreed and said, ?ACP is excited to be collaborating with organizations like CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield and Independence Blue Cross. We believe that Medical Home Builder 2.0 is an effective way to help practices deliver patient-centered, cost-effective and high-quality care health care.?

MHB 2.0 users are part of an online community of PCMH practices, large and small, that are committed to improving patient care. Practices will have access to best-practice videos and a discussion board, where questions can be posed to a community of MHB 2.0 colleagues. Modules available through MHB 2.0 focus on developing Patient-Centered Medical Homes and other associated clinical topics.

Each module includes:
