“Annie Leibovitz: Pilgrimage” Exhibition to Open at the Georgia O?Keeffe Museum, February 2013

Thursday, November 15th, 2012

Santa Fe, NM (PRWEB) November 13, 2012

The Georgia O?Keeffe Museum announces its first exhibition of 2013, entitled Annie Leibovitz: Pilgrimage which will open February 15, 2013. The exhibition opening will be preceded by a talk that Leibovitz will present about her work on February 12, 2013 at 6:00 pm MST at the Lensic Performing Arts Center.

The show charts a new direction for one of America?s best-known living photographers. Unlike her staged and carefully lit portraits made on assignment for magazines and advertising clients, the photographs in this exhibition were taken simply because Leibovitz was moved by the subject.

The pictures, while not containing people, are in a certain sense portraits of subjects that have shaped Leibovitz?s distinctly American view of her cultural inheritance. Visiting the homes of iconic figures, including O?Keeffe, Eleanor Roosevelt, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Pete Seeger and Elvis Presley, as well as places such as Niagara Falls, Walden Pond, Old Faithful and the Yosemite Valley, she let her instincts and intuitions guide her to related subjects?hence the title ?Pilgrimage.? The images speak in a commonplace language to the photographer?s curiosity about the world she inherited, spanning landscapes both dramatic and quiet, interiors of living rooms and bedrooms, and objects that are talismans of past lives.

The exhibition, which includes about 70 photographs taken between April 2009 and May 2011, is making a national tour to 8 museums (a full list and dates can be found here), which started in January 2012 at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

?Annie Leibovitz?s Pilgrimage is much like Georgia O?Keeffe?s work in that it captures a place in time with such evocative power and emotion that you cannot help but feel the connection, the deep sense of place,? said Rob Kret, director of the Georgia O?Keeffe Museum. ?We are honored to have her work here and feel that it truly commemorates and complements the ongoing ?Georgia O?Keeffe and the Faraway: Nature and Image? exhibition with paintings and photographs of O?Keeffe?s most beloved and inspiring locations in the Southwest.?

?From the beginning, when I was watching my children stand mesmerized over Niagara Falls, this project was an exercise in renewal,? said Leibovitz. ?It taught me to see again.?

Pilgrimage is an evocative and deeply personal statement by a photographer whose career now spans more than 40 years, encompassing a broad range of subject matter, history and stylistic influences. Together the pictures show Leibovitz at the height of her powers, unfettered by the demands of her career and pondering how photographs, including her own, shape a narrative of history that informs the present.

THE TALK: Leibovitz will discuss her work Friday February 12, 2012 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in downtown Santa Fe. Tickets will be available from at http://www.lensic.org or 505-988-1234.

THE BOOK: The accompanying book, published by Random House, includes an introduction by noted historian Doris Kearns Goodwin. Pilgrimage is available for purchase ($ 50) at bookstores nationwide and the museum?s store.

Annie Leibovitz: Pilgrimage was organized by the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The Bernie Stadiem Endowment Fund provided support for the exhibition. The C.F. Foundation in Atlanta supports the museum’s traveling exhibition program, Treasures to Go.

The WINFertility(SM) IVF Discount Treatment Program for Infertility Patients Expands to Georgia

Thursday, January 19th, 2012

WHITE PLAINS, NY (PRWEB) January 18, 2012

WINFertility, Inc., the leader in Infertility Management Programs for insurers and employers, today announced the extension of its consumer offering to the greater Atlanta region, its fifth major marketplace in as many months. The expansion is designed to increase the availability of affordable, advanced fertility care that remains financially out of reach for many of the nearly quarter million Georgians facing infertility today who are without advanced infertility insurance coverage.

WINFertility has developed evidence-based treatment protocols for IUI, IVF and Third Party Reproduction, delivered by a contracted, credentialed network of fertility specialists. Infertility medications are included in the single, discounted, bundled price for Program participants. There is no age or medical criteria required to enroll in the Program. If treatment is indicated by a participating provider and the patient has no infertility insurance coverage, or has exhausted their benefit, she can enroll in the WINFertility Program. Typical patient savings per IVF treatment cycle can range from $ 5,000 to $ 10,000 or more, depending on treatments and medication doses required.

Incorporated in the unique Consumer Program is access to WINFertility?s FertilityCoach Nurses(SM) on a 24/7 basis for education and care coordination, a Medical Advisory Board comprised of industry-leading Reproductive Endocrinologists and financing programs at preferred rates.

Program Available Throughout Metropolitan Atlanta

Effective today, the WINFertility Quality Discount Treatment Program is available in the greater Atlanta area through Georgia Reproductive Specialists (GRS). Infertility patients in the region are treated at four conveniently located offices in Atlanta, Alpharetta, Decatur and Stockbridge. The experienced team of specialists at GRS provides a full range of infertility services, from female and male testing and diagnosis, through IUI, IVF, Donor Programs and pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD). ?The GRS team has long believed that the challenging economic environment should not limit access for couples seeking solutions to their fertility problems?, said Mark Perloe, MD and Medical Director of Georgia Reproductive Specialists. ?We initiated a breakthrough program in Georgia called No Hidden Fee IVF that includes all medical and laboratory procedures that are part of a typical IVF treatment cycle. We were not able to include medications and pharmacy distribution.? According to Perloe, ?By partnering with WINFertility, GRS patients have unique access to a discounted, bundled package that includes both IVF treatment and medications at a much more affordable price, so more people will be able to pursue their family-building dreams. The addition of the WINFertility Treatment Program reinforces the Georgia Reproductive Specialists? philosophy of providing affordable treatment. We expect it to be a terrific partnership and deliver added value to our patients.?

More Access for More Patients

?Georgia is home to almost 10 million people, with nearly half residing in the greater Atlanta area. We are so pleased to be able to offer our unique program to such a large and dynamic marketplace, where so many suffer with the diagnosis of infertility and its associated expenses,? commented Tom Boyajy, COO of WINFertility. ?The WINFertility approach is to promote high quality infertility care at the most competitive cost. The GRS team is recognized for both their patient-centered approach and their clinical results. Coupled with WIN?s proprietary treatment protocols, bundled packages, fertility management expertise, and considerable buying power, we are confident that patients in Georgia will receive the very best treatment value possible.?

?The response WIN has received about our Consumer Program continues to be very positive?, said Boyajy. ?This encouraging reception is due to the compelling financial and clinical benefits of WIN?s offering that are unique in each marketplace we have entered. To continue to meet market demand and provide greater program access to patients who require fertility help, we have accelerated our expansion timetable and expect to announce several more new markets over the coming months.?
