New Continuing Education Course from GSC Home Study Courses Focuses on Oral Health Management for Children with Complex Medical Needs

Tuesday, September 18th, 2012

West Bridgewater, Massachusetts (PRWEB) September 14, 2012

GSC Home Study Courses has just released a new continuing education course that provides dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants with information to help them better identify and manage the oral health needs of pediatric patients with complex medical conditions.

?Children with chronic medical, developmental, and psychosocial conditions experience significantly more oral health problems than children without these conditions,? according to Karen Hallisey, DMD, Dental Planner for GSC Home Study Courses. Providing dental professionals with the foundational knowledge to better care for this growing patient population is the impetus behind Dental Management for Pediatric Patients with Complex Needs, a new continuing education course from GSC Home Study Courses ? a leading Academy of General Dentistry approved continuing education program provider.

According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services? most recent 2009- 2010 National Survey of Children with Special Health Care Needs, 15.1 percent of US children (11.2 million children ages 0 – 17) have special health care needs, and more than one in five US households with children have at least one child with a special health care need. This translates into almost nine million households nationally. Individuals with special health care needs experience more oral health problems and require a greater level of oral health management than their healthy counterparts. Children with special health care needs are especially vulnerable to the oral effects of systemic diseases.

?This GSC Home Study course is a great example of how the company provides healthcare professionals with the educational information they need to provide exceptional care to all patients, especially those with complex medical conditions,? said Christian Feuer, CEO of SC Publications, parent company of GSC Home Study Courses. ?Our courses allow busy professionals to keep abreast of the issues and challenges they face in their everyday practices.?

Children Medieval Band Live – Ich will – Denver Coliseum 2012

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012

On May 20th 2012, the kids from Children Medieval Band played live as an opening act for the Rammstein show. It was a great audience. The kids performed very well. If we consider their lack of experience on stage, the numerous audience, and also the sound which was very different from what they got used to, their performance was a great A+. This video doesn’t reflect well the quality of the show, but we post it anyway. We found two other videos from this event, their sound is also not too good, but the picture is better: www.youtube.com www.youtube.com The home recording of this song is here: www.youtube.com Children Medieval Band: Stefan (10) – voice, guitar, violin Olga (8.6) – keyboard, voice Cornelia (6) – drum, voice We’d like to thank Joe Letz for introducing the kids on stage. He was the one who found their videos on youtube and showed them to the R+ team. Thanks Joe, and thanks to all the team and, first of all, to the band members, who were very friendly and supportive to the kids. Geriatric Care Managers Offer Hints for Adult Children Visiting Aging Parents Over the Holidays

Thursday, December 29th, 2011

Tucson, AZ (PRWEB) December 20, 2011

Unpaid bills piling up, outdated food in the kitchen cabinets, medications not being taken properly are all potential warning signs that aging parents may need help. Holiday visits are often a time when adult children may notice red flags and become concerned about the health and well-being of beloved parents. The National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers offers some tips for adult children and families visiting aging relatives over the holiday season:

A few signs that may indicate the need for professional evaluation include:

Do you notice more than usual clutter piling up, unopened mail and unpaid bills around the house?

Does your parent appear to be suddenly underweight, unusually lethargic or lacking his or her usual appetite?

Does your Mom or Dad suddenly seem to be forgetful about taking medications or frequently repeating themselves?

?Holidays are special family times, but they also give us a time to step back from work, child-rearing and other demands to notice when things may be amiss with aging loved ones,? said Susan Fleischer, president of NAPGCM. ?Geriatric care managers can help adult children and families evaluate concerns and if necessary devise appropriate, individualized care plans.?

About NAPGCM

The National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers (NAPGCM) was formed in 1985 to advance dignified care for older adults and their families. Geriatric Care Managers are professionals who have extensive training and experience working with older people, people with disabilities and families who need assistance with caregiving issues. They assist older adults who wish to remain in their homes, or can help families in the search for a suitable nursing home placement or extended care if the need occurs. The practice of geriatric care management and the role of care providers have captured a national spotlight, as generations of Baby Boomers age in the United States and abroad.
